Washington license expiration alerts
For Washington state business owners and LLC founders, understanding license expiration alerts and renewal processes is crucial for compliance. Most city and state endorsements require annual renewal.
The expiration date is printed on your Business License under the Unified Business Identifier (UBI) number. The Business Licensing Service sends a courtesy renewal reminder one month before the expiration date, and businesses are eligible to renew up to two months prior.
To avoid penalties, all endorsements must be renewed, required documents submitted, and fees paid by the expiration date, as renewals received after this date incur late penalty fees. If a renewal reminder is not received, contact the Business Licensing Service at 360-705-6741.
Additionally, corporate entities (LLC, Corporations, etc.) must file an Annual Report directly with the Washington Secretary of State, Corporations and Charities Division, to stay in good standing. Be vigilant against phishing scams; official license endorsement renewal messages from cms@dor.wa.gov will only alert you to a new message in your My DOR inbox.
Do not click suspicious links, reply, or provide information. Instead, check your business license document for the expiration date and log directly into My DOR at https://secure.dor.wa.gov/ for renewals.
