Important update: As of March 26, 2025, FinCEN’s interim final rule exempts domestic U.S. companies from BOI reporting. That means most U.S.-based creators who formed domestic LLCs or corporations do not need to file BOI reports with FinCEN.
However, foreign entities that have registered to do business in the U.S. remain subject to BOI filing deadlines, and some states (notably New York) have their own transparency laws—so check state requirements, keep accurate ownership records, and consult counsel where ownership is complex or cross-border.
